Meet the Team

I started my career as a U.S. Marine Corps officer flying and maintaining KC-130J aircraft. I went from supervisor of the airframes and hydraulics shop to leading operations for a 450-person organization managing $1.2 billion in assets, to commanding a KC-130 unit in Afghanistan. I have lived operations, maintenance, and risk management in the harshest environments.

After the Marines and a stop in safety and crisis management with Citigroup and the Cleveland Guardians, I went into maintenance and operations consulting because I thought it would let me make a bigger impact on how plants actually run.

I was right about the impact. I was wrong about the industry.

What I found was a consulting model that rewarded complexity, staffed projects with people who had never managed anything – much less front line operations and maintenance – and charged clients to relearn things the industry solved decades ago. I spent eight years at Reliability Management Group, then T.A. Cook, which was acquired by Accenture, rising to Senior Principal and earning a designation as a Thought Leader & Expert in Manufacturing and Operations Systems. I led business process workstreams on a $20MM SAP S/4HANA program for a major refinery. I designed the integrated operations, maintenance, and process safety blueprint for a greenfield LNG facility. I delivered an alarm management program for a pharma manufacturer that cut nuisance alarms 43% and became the corporate standard. I was the person clients asked for by name when it was time to close a deal.

I built SamOS because I got tired of watching good plants pay for bad consulting. The failure modes are known. The work processes are proven. The strategies are documented. What plants need is a system to deploy — not a team to discover what everyone already knows.
